Planning Permission Secured for Alpine Inspired Dream Home!

Planning Approval Secured for Striking Alpine-Style Bungalow Transformation

We’re delighted to announce that planning permission has officially been granted for one of our most exciting residential projects yet – a full bungalow transformation into a bold Alpine-style home in Bournemouth, on the South Coast of England.

What currently stands as a modest, timeworn bungalow will soon be completely reimagined as a stunning timber-clad house that blends the charm of Swiss chalet design with contemporary architectural elegance.

From Tired Bungalow to Modern Alpine-Style Home

The existing property, with its low roofline and dated brickwork, has served its purpose for many years but no longer meets the needs of its new owners. The Client approached Heim Architecture to redesign and reimagine the property, bringing character, space, and functionality – a home that truly reflects their passion for Alpine architecture.

A Design Inspired by the Alps

Our proposed design draws inspiration from the warmth and detail of traditional Swiss chalets, while embracing modern construction techniques. Vertical timber cladding will add texture and a natural feel, while expansive glazing and glazed gable ends will fill the interiors with daylight and connect the home to its garden.

A bold new roofline with deep overhangs and exposed beams will make this property a standout example of South Coast residential architecture, offering beauty, durability, and energy efficiency.

Light, Space and Flow

Inside, the new design replaces cramped, compartmentalised rooms with bright, open-plan living spaces. High ceilings and feature glazing will create a sense of volume, while improved indoor-outdoor flow makes the most of the surrounding landscape — perfect for both summer entertaining and cosy winter living.

Sustainable and Built to Last

As with all Heim Architecture projects, sustainability is at the heart of the design. The use of locally sourced natural materials, combined with modern insulation and energy-efficient glazing, will ensure the home is as comfortable as it is visually striking.
